Tetrathlon is a competition in four parts - running, riding, shooting and swimming. Swimming is scored by the number of metres ob- tained in a set time limit. Shooting is scored by the highest number of shots on target. The running portion is a cross country course that must be com- pleted in the shortest pos- sible time and the riding is scored like the cross coun- try phase of eventing with penalty points for refu- sals, falls or going over the optimum time allowed. The swimming and shooting were held in Ajax and the riding and run- ning were held at Dream- crest Equestrian Centre on the Shirley Rd. In the Senior Girls divi- sion, Laura Timms had a first in swimming, tied for first in riding, was fifth in running and ninth in shooting to place third overall. Elaine Young was sixth in swimming, fifth in riding, seventh in run- ning, fifth in shooting to wind up in fifth spot over- all. In the Junior Girls divi- sion, Larissa Grabowski was seventh in swimming, eighth in riding, ninth in running, ninth in shooting and finished seventh over- all. In the Novice division, first timer Katie Murray was eighth in swimming, eighth in riding, 11th in running, 13th in shooting and placed eighth overall. The Senior and Junior division girls all qualified to go on to National Tetra- thalon held later this sum- mer near Ottawa. In further Pony Club news, the second meet of the Prince Philip Games was held recently in Port Hope. The games are a se- ries of relay races played while riding, such as rid- ing around a set of bend- ing poles and handing off a baton to the next rider.
