SALE RUNS 1 DAY ONLY!!! available at Tom Cumby will discuss conservation issues MNR rep is speaker at next Fisheries meeting The June public meet- ings of the St. John's Scu- gog Chapter of the Kawar- tha Fisheries Association has been set for Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. The meeting will again be held at St. John's Presbyterian Church (lower level) at 319 Queen Street in Port Perry. MNR Coordinator Tom Cumby will present a com- plete run-down on the shoreline inventory of Lake Scugog, including animals, amphibians, wildfowl, song birds, and vegetation. Tom will also discuss purple loosestrife, and shoreline manage- ment issues that are cur- rently facing the lake. It is anticipated that Tom will also have several sugges- tions for projects that could be undertaken by the Kawartha Fisheries Association to enhance the lake's ecosystem. This will be the inaugu- ral chapter of the Kawar- tha Fisheries Association, and will therefore be an opportunity for members of the public who wish to become involved in the de- velopment of angling re- sources, policies, regula- tions, education, research, and be directly involved in improving habitat in con- junction with MNR and the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters, among others. Plenty of free parking, refreshments will be served, and there is no cost for participation. On Sunday (June 23) the Scugog Shores Museum Village on Scugog Island will be hosting Teddy Bears of all shapes and sizes for their very own picnic. Chil- dren of all ages are invited to bring their teddies and enjoy the games, stories, music and fun. There will be a special visit by Barney and Baby Bop, pioneer demonstrations, a Teddy Bear Medical Clinicand a Magic Lantern Show. Parents will also be able to enjoy a delicious straw- berry social in our historic Tea Room. The picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum located on Island Rd.
