The crowd being Ee and every event was filled to capacity for our Lake Scugog Regatta annu- al splash. We even had Channel 9 tap- ing some of the events. I one Church service this week Aug. 11 will be held in Epsom United Church starting at 10 a.m. (note the change in time). There will be no church service on this side of the charge on Aug. 18 but will be held in Goodwood at 10 a.m. A reminder that there will be a meeting of the Epsom/ Utica Foodgrains Bank pro- ject in Epsom Church on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m. with guest speaker from Winnipeg, Al Doerkson, and the Ontario co-ordinator Jim Papple of Seaforth, bringing us up to date on the work of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank here and overseas. Everyone interested in this work is invited to attend. Utica Hall Board is having a corn roast and barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 17 serving from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Hall. Bertha Cottyn has been in B.C. recently visiting her brother-in-law who is ill in hospital. Barbara and Ross Evans visited recently with Doris and Allan Hockley of Union- ville. Bethesda-Reach W.IL members and friends en- joyed a lovely bus trip to Pic- ton recently. A large craft show, boat trip, the "lake in out were all part of the day. Thanks to Barbara Rance for her organizational skills. Virginia Wilson and Kate- lin Bacon attended camp last week near Huntsville. Doug and Beth Wilson and family attended the Arabian Horse show in Ancaster on the weekend of July 27 and 28. Son Michael was showing horses there and all report a very successful time. Saturday visitors with Don and Stella Asling were grandson Ivan, Lisa and Sa- rah and Lisa's mother Mari- on as well as Jean Millman of Bobcaygeon who also called on Ruth Ashton. Dorothy Gaffney of Cannington, a for- mer neighbor on Medd Road, also visited Don and Stella recently. Faye Ashton, Don and Stella Asling visited with Jerry and Joan Asling at their cottage on Pearl Lake at Hanover. Several of the neighbors were pleased to have Mark Kerry of Alberta call on them. They attended a deco- ration service at Sunderland Cemetery. She also visited with her sister-in-law Heather Mun- ro in Beaverton and returned home on Monday. Last ayy night at the Blackstock United Church for Durham East 4-H Clubs held the annual Go For The Gold competition. There were a total of 10 teams competing, each team had four members on the team. The first place team was the Rabbit Club which consist- ed of Mike Metcalf, Aaron Bow- "man, Emily Metcalf and Josh Bowman. The team which-came in second place was the Dairy 2 team. This team consisted of Todd Moore, Nancy Metcalf, Melanie Allin and rt Larm- er. The evening was enjoyed by all of the members and the par- ents attending. Everyone learned a little bit more about agriculture by the end of the evening. We visited Camp Scugog on Saturday. Camp Scugog is a United Church camp located on St. Christophers. The camp just re-opened this summer on July 1 and has its last session of the summer ending Aug. 21. The camp was to i Ton years but returned to St. Christo- phers this year after all the nec- essary repairs had been fin- ished. Camp Scugog has had an archery net given to them and is trying to get an archery pro- - gram for the campers off the ground.
