Roger's Cable will be taping the half hour programs at the Mississauga First Nation band - office on Scugog Island. Elizabeth MacArthur of Port Perry will be the host and pro- ducer of the series. She has a regular show entitled Current Perspectives, which airs on the Oshawa cable network. The segments are being organized by the United Anishnaabeg Councilywhich represents such councils as Scugog Island , Curve Lake, Rama, Georgina Island, Hiawatha and Christian Lake First Nations. Residents of local cable station many are expected to attend and take part in the series, focusing on all First Nations. Mrs. MacArthur is excited about the programming calling it is a chance to show the rich culture and to clear up popular misconceptions about First Nation people. "I think this a phenomenal opportunity for the community to come and see the culture," she said. The first day of tapings occurred yesterday (Monday) and will continue through Tuesday and Wednesday. Although space for spectators is limited during indoor shots, Mrs. MacArthur said the public is welcome for the outside ses- sions. Turnto Page 12 'Grant means museum will have site on 'Net By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Shores Museum is headed for the internet thanks to; a grant from Industry Cana- Curator Dan Robert applied for the $12,000 grant along with 1,000 other applicants. Only 81 of those received the nt, to be used as part of a hoolnet and Digital Collec- tion program documenting ar- chives from across Canada. The aim of the project is to have all of the archives across Canada on the internet by the end of 1997 to allow students. the opportunity to gain access to the information. A team of three students, Jennifer Fallow and Travis Sweet from Oshawa and Na- than Adams, d™Nestleton, are compiling and inputing all the information into the museum website. The program is a youth em- ployment initiative project that allows for two college and one high school student to be hired. Although both Nathan and Travis had already made the internet a hobby, Jennifer had no experience with the sys- tem prior to this job.
