The Storm ended the season with a perfect record of 15-0 duplicating the feat set in 1995 by the Port Perry IGA Mites. Co- incidently three members of the Storm were part of the '95 IGA team and they included coach Dale New- man and players Abby McLaughlin and Jamie Newman. To go unbeaten once is a feat in itself but two years in a row is an ac- complishment these three should be very proud of. Winter's won the tour- nament over Swain's 27- 17. Jamie Gimblett and Sean McLellan had four hits each while three hit games were turned in by Alanna Holland, Jessica McLaughlin and Jamie Newman. Abby McLaugh- lin pitched a great third inning not allowing a base runner. Winter's also got clutch hits from Sean Win- ter, Mark Merton, Betha- ny Newman and Law- rence MacDonald. Winter's started the tourney with a narrow one run victory over the Mar- tyn Flyers with the win- ning run coming in the bottom of the extra inning on a passed ball. In this well played contest Mark Merton and Lawrence MacDonald had a double each while Bethany New- man hit a clutch two out single in the first inning. Michelle Noseworthy and Terry Damant led Martyn's with a triple and a single each while the cousins Julia "and Tim Martyn had a pair ofhits. The Storm's second game was Saturday a.m. as they beat Swain Seeds to advance. Winter's played their finest game of the season as the pitching trio of Abby McLaughlin, Steven Vine and Jamie Newman held the opposi- tion to just four hits. Sean McLellan led the offense with three hits. Kristy Brooks led the Sluggers with a double and an RBI while Steven Blunden, Mark Morrison and Tyson Prescott collected singles. Swain's had the tougher route having to beat Mar- tyn's in the B side final be- fore advancing. They did . so winning 14-11. Swain's took the long road to the finals as they beat Mann's Cornhuskers 16-8 in their first game as Kristy Brooks made a great defensive catch. Alex Blue led Mann's with a homerun while Me- lissa Killen had a double and a triple. Swain's continued to win as they beat Cum- mings 25-11 to set up their first game against Win- ter's. The defense led the way this go around with Mark Morrison Goulding and Heather Lee Jones completed a rundown play for an out. Cummings got strong ee ------------------------------------------------------ games by Warren Keeler, ark Vernest and Andrea Bonsma while Craig Jour- drey had a double. Coaches Reminders 1.
