"A Family Tradition for 130 Years" Port Plaza merchants' association is revived The merchants' associa- tion at the Port Perry Pla- za is back, with plans to make the group better thanever. z The businesses in the Scugog St. plaza are band- ing together to make shop- ping there an "event", they say, and they're encourag- ing the community to have fun in the process. The first event of the Port Perry Plaza Mer- chants' Association will be this coming Saturday (Aug. 31), when shoppers can browse at items set up sidewalk sale-style, and enjoy a corn roast. It's hoped the Labor Day weekend event will set the tone for future promo- tions, said Pete Kneale, owner of Paulmac's Pet Foods Plus and a director with the new association. Jim Cole, owner of the Sears outlet at the plaza, is the president of the new- ly-formed association. He said it's an organization that has been revived af- ter being dormant for a couple of years. "We're inviting every- body down to take part in the event," he said of Sat- urday's promotion.
