"A Family Tradition for 130 Years" Fastball season winds down'! The Oshawa City and District Fastball os will end this coming Se end when the top 10 teams will compete in Pheleague championship tourna- ment at Bradford. The Richmond. Hill Stingrays, Scarborough Royals, Greenbank Gam- blers, Oshawa Heat, Oshawa Jrs., Port Perry Jrs., Bradford, Markham, Toronto Chick 'n" Deli and the Oshawa Juveniles will compete in the double knockout tournament for the George "Soup" Camp- bell Trophy. The Oshawa league is recognized as one of the premier fastball leagues in Ontario and the tourna- ment at Bradford should produce some top flight Fastball competition. The Greenbank Gam- blers first game will be on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. ver- sus the winner of an earli- er match up between Bradford and Toronto Chick 'n' Deli. The Gamblers play - their lastleague game this Tuesday night in Port Perry hr availabili- ty) against Toronto Chick 'n "Deh at 8:30 p.m. Last Thursday in Scar- borough, Greenbank lost a tough game to the Scarbo- rough Royals. Lefty Mark Goreski had his best out- ing of the season and had tossed a nifty two hitter at the Royals for sixinnings. But in the bottom of the seventh Goreski ran out of gas and the Royals erased a 3-0 Gambler lead to score four runs and take a 4-3 win. Both Mark Goreski and Byron Baranieski (who was in Newfoundland with the Ontario Carp Team) should be in oy form this weekend for the championship tourney). Greg Newell, Trevor Till and Don Beaton had sup- plied the hitting power to give Greenbank the 3-0 lead at Scarborough but three proved not to be enough in this hotly con- tested game.
