4- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 10, 1996 Fewer kids enter ~Scugog schools this autumn, early numbers indicate By Kelly: Lown Port Perry Star Fewer children are en- rolled in local schools as Scugog's enrollment fig- ures dropped to 4 276, down from 4,413 students in 1995. Although the total num- ber of students enrolled in local schools in down by 137, it represents an in- crease of one student over 1994 totals. Cartwright High School, Prince Albert and Cartwright Public Schools were the only schools to see an increase in stu- dents this September. Cartwright High has 173 students registered, up from 160 last year and 170 the year previous. Prince Albert Public School saw an increase of 12 students this year, bringing its total student body to 272. After seeing a decrease of 15 students the year previous, Prince Albert has seen an in- crease of some 83 students over the past three years. Cartwright Public School has 604 students registered this year, up from 596 last year and 589 the year previous. Port Perry High School has seen a decrease of 35 students this year after seeing a slight increase the year previous. Port Perry's two public schools S. A. Cawker and R. H. Cornish both saw a decrease in student body this year. R. H. Immaculate Conception Public School has 461 stu- dents registered, down from 489 the year previ- ous. The school, however, had seen an increase of 48 students in 1995. Scugog Christian School currently has 62 students registered, down from 69 in 1995, but up from its 1994 enrollment figure of 60 students.
