Venning was born on August 27,1929 in Cartweighero Township and was the son of or late Charles Gilbert Venning and Luella Beatrice Fer- guson. Garry attended Black- stock United Church Sun- day School, public and high school. He then went on to George Brown Col- lege. He married Marie Louise Cassidy. They had a daughter, Penny, whom he deeply treasured. Several years were spent in Bowmanville. He filled in for his mom and dad in the post office when it was in the Venning resi- dence for sp many years. Garry and his brother Wayne had their own dec- orating business and con- tracted with Lake Scugog Lumber. He was in charge of the die- tary, housekeeping and laundry departments. Garry had taken great interest in his daughter Penny's figure skating, dancing and being a time keeper when she played hockey. He enjoyed his family and his greatest pleasure was his time spent with his grandsons, Max and Vaughan. Garry had been a mem- ber of the Kinsmen Club in Bowmanville. His main passion was softball. He played ball and umpired locally and all across On- tario. He was also elected to serve on the O.A.S.A. executive council in 1982. Left to mourn are his wife Marie, mother Luella Venning, daughter Penny, son-in-law Scott, grand- sons Maxim and Vaug han Heard. Brother Way ne and wife France. Sisters Joyce and Husband Dale Gunter, Nora Little and Linda and husband Doug McMillan. Also many niec- es and nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services were held at Low & Low Funer- al Home on Friday, Au- gust 23, 1996 with Rev. Jack Griffen officiating.
