34- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 1, 1996 One week ago Gord Paisley, daughter Cathy and her hus- band Mike Miller enjoyed a long weekerid in Calgary where they attended a reception to cele- brate the recent marriage of Su- san Johnson of Michichi, Alber- ta and Craig Paisley of Calgary. The reception, held at Deane House, was attended by a large group of relatives, friends, neighbors and members of the media. A similar reception is be- ing planned locally when Susan and Craig come back to Ontario. Former classmates, friends and neighbors are invited to greet the newlyweds at a party at the Nestleton Community Centre on Saturday evening, Oct. 19 commencing at 7:30 p.m. Re- freshments will be served and there will be dancing later in the evening. Cecil po | Marie Gibson spent a few days with their friends, Ross and Irene Vanclief of Cor- yville. The two couples spent a rb htful day with Bob and Alice Brown of Peterborough at their cottage on Crowe River. Alice, the former Alice Staples, lived in the area and attended Cartwright High School. She is enjoying catching up on the news of her former classmates and friends of Cartwright from the Gibsons. The church service at the United Church on Sunday morning was indeed special. The U.C.W. was in charge of the service with several members participating. Guest speaker was Karen Smart who spoke on the theme "A Faith, A Farm and A Family." During the service Rev. David Shearman conduct- ed the sacrament of baptism when the following children were received: Taylor Lane Ma- rie Hamlin, daughter of Steve and Wendy Hamlin; Brooke Louise Lively, Randy and Heather Lively and William Fraser Luke Weir, son of Jim and Elizabeth Weir. Mrs. Andrew Weir hosted a family gathering in honor of her grandson Fraser's baptism. Guests were Jim and Elizabeth Weir and Fraser, Harold and Lois Luke, Doreen and Don Ashbridge, Muriel Coates, Ca- thy Morris, Luke and Jackie, Bob and Kathleen Luke and family. Recently Jeff and Kelly Grove became the parents of a baby girl, Michaela Lee, a little sister for Kelsey. This a new grand- child for Joan and Glen Grove. Congratulations to you all. Walter and Audrey Wright spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Kingston where they enjoyed a visit with their daughter Lor- na and her husband Pras. Dwayne and Carol Bryant and baby Rebecca of Mitchell visited her parents George and Brenda Bryant. No doubt they visited many of their relatives showing off this new little addi- tion to the family tree. Rebecca is just three A old. Father Hugh conducted the Service of Celebration of Bessie's life, at the Wagg Funeral Home and in- terment at St. John's Cemetery. Hugh was assisted by Rev. Da- vid Shearman. Bessie will cer-" tainly be missed at St. John's but all rejoice that she is now at peace.
