. 2- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 22, 1996 Workshops will" seek 'vision' for township's plan By Kelly Lown ° Port Perry Star Scugog Township's planner wants the resi- dents of the township to become involved in the Of- ficial Plan process. Jim Dyment, of the Planning Partnership, will be holding a series of community visioning workshops throughout the township to obtain views from the public on various issues effecting long term planningin the township. All of the sessions will be held before council be- gins considering any draft policies, allowing the com- munity a say in the plan. The consulting planners are currently in the pro- cess of preparing back- ground material on the en- vironmental and socio- economic conditions of the township. The informa- tion will be summarized in a background report which should be available for council and public re- view in early 1997. Unlike the current Offi- cial Plan in the township the new plan will cover all of Scugog Township in- stead of only Port Perry's urban area. Council voted to adopt a resolution to see work on the plan begin immediate- ly. The plan should be completed by June or July of 1997. The financing of the plan will be stretched over a two-year period. The es- timated cost of the plan is $100,000.
