Executive members are concerned about the be- havior of teens they say are causing blems on Monday and Wednesday nights during the 7:15 p.m. Bantam games, and to a lesser degree the Mid- get games that follow. Mr. Christie said some 40 teens between the ages of 14 and 17 show up for the games on a weekly ba- sis. Executive members say it is not all of the teens causing the problems. But they warn all young peo- ple could suffer if inci- dents continue. Incidents at the arena have been ongoing since the beginning of the sea- son a short time ago. There have been two inci- dents where players com- ing off the ice have been spat at, car windows have been = smashed, tires slashed, obscene language used and fights have brok- en out in the stands, in- volving both males and fe- males, executive members charge. Minor hockey reps have approached the Durham ° Regional Police, who have agreed to make appear- ances at the arena as well asin the parking lot. The executive has been given the authority to eject any problem teens from the building and say police will be called and charges laid. If things doen't improve mi- nor hockey will consider banning teens who aren't playing hockey from the building unless they're ac- companied by an adult. Rowing club seeks support for building The - Durham Rowing Club is looking for support in its efforts to build a boathouse. An information meeting is being held tonight (Tuesday) at the Scugog Community Centre, be- ginning at 7:30pm. to un- veil construction and fundraising plans. The club, which has been in existance for more than six years, will be get- ting a new home soon, thanks to a Scugog Coun- cil's recommendation that will see bridge financing offered to the club. Interest in the club has grown significantly over the years and the lack of a storage facility for its boats has hampered its ability to grow. The township has fi- nanced the club $16,000, about half of the expected cost of the project. The re- mainder will be paid by the club through fundrais- ing ventures. The 40' x 80' ponds, to be located in Rotary Park ise to be complet- ed by this coming summer. If completed by-June the club plans to host a Re- ional Regatta on Lake Ei mid-August. The club will be launch- ing an intensive fundrais- ing campaign to raise the funds for the boathouse. The club is hoping to gar- ner support, not only from g Township resi- rE but from all of the Durham Region.
