It was a great evening of Square Dancing with Bob Prentice, Bob Cawker, and Doug Barber providing the music. Everett Prentice gave out instruc- tions before calling the dances. Everett has been "calling" at square dances for 64 years and everyone appreciated his exper- tise. Many from this community attended the Bertelsmann Community Celebration at Port Perry High School on Thursday evening in celebration of the Durham Board of Education winning this highly respected award for the Best School Board in the World. On Saturday evening a large crowd of friends and relatives attended the Jack and Jill Dance in their honor at Nestleton Hall. At noon they enjoyed a pot dinner at the United Church. On Saturday evening Gerald and Joyce Kelly were special guests of the Brooklin Agricultural Society's Appreciation Banquet and evening. On Thursday evening a large number of local folk went by bus to Toronto where they attended a taping of the TV program "Air Farce." It was aired on Friday evening. Members of the Blackstock Agricultural Society are remind- ed of the meeting this Thursday evening. Many families enjoyed having their young people home when they all arrived back in Blackstock for the commence- ment on Saturday evening. A large crowd attended the annual Cartwright High School Commencement Exercises. Mr. L. Plue gave his address to the graduates after which Scugog Trustee Bobbie Drew brought greetings.
