"A Family Tradition for 130 Years" Port Bantams advance to This past weekend (Nov. 15 to 17), the Port Perry Country Style Bantams, participated in the annual Cobourg Tournament. The first game for Port was against Pickering. Port went right to work as Matt MacMaster got the only goal in the first period. In the second it was a boom ing slapshot from the point by Murphy Irvine that increased Port's lead to 2-0. Picking up the lone assist on both goals was Braden Tarbotton. In the third it was Mark Blakley who scored Port's third goal to seal the victory and the five points for the game. Jason Whitworth picked up the assist on this goal. Deryk Campbell finished off the scoring with an empty net goal for a 4-0 win. Braden Tarbotton picked up the assist on the fourth goal. On Saturday Country Style's first game of the day was against Waterloo. Port started off very slowly and were down 3-0 by the end of the second They come up against a tough period. Knowing they needed to get some points in this game they-started to rally. I McQuade got the team on the Tar assisted by Matt MacMaster. This goal bon the team to life as they pushed forward at every opportunity. Their efforts were rewarded as Matt MacMaster scored Port's second goal assisted by Chris Skerratt. Waterloo were not going to give up as they scored with five minutes remaining to take a 4-2 lead. Port pressed the Waterloo net in an effort to score. Matt MacMaster got Port's third goal assisted by Deryk Campbell and the team's effort finally paid off as Ryan McQuade scored the tying goal with two minutes to go assisted by Matt MacMaster. A great comeback for the 4-4 tie: Later in the afternoon Port were up against Georgina. Georgina took an early lead while Port left it until the last few seconds in the period to tie the game as Ryan McQuade Team takes C Division Pineridge Atoms busy as they is found the net assisted by De Camp! In the quarter finals their opponent for this game was the host team Cobourg. This was an exciting et game for all to see. Right from the start of the game Port was on a mission. They took the lead on a goal by A McQuade nd by or k Campbell. Cobourg tied pi game late i in the first, period. ; prepare for Manvers meeting It's been an exciting week for Pine- ridge Atoms. They started off with a sol- id win against Omemee Thursday eve- ning. warming them up for their tournament Saturday in Manvers. Oshawa Red Wings vs Pineridge Oshawa was winning 3-0 after the first period. A breakaway by Mat Ka- minga was stopped dead by an illegal body check leaving Oshawa shorthand- ed. What an opportunity for Port to use that power play they learned in practice. Nelson Langmaid powers the puck in to Mat Kaminga. Kaminga to Tyson Sav- age. Tyson lifts the puck over the shoul- der of the goalie to put Port on the score- board. Jessie Mullins gets a pass from Chris Mulligan. Jessie is tipped. Wait! He still 'gets the pass off to Ryan Hnatko who lets a boomer go, just shy of the net. Strong defensive work by John Daru- wala and Shawn McNamara starts off the next goal. McNamara hammers the puck at the goalie. The rebound is picked up by Jessie Mitchian who lifted it and drove itinto the net. To tie the game 3-3 Shawn McNamara gets the puck from Taylor Churchill and catches the goalie off guard. Somehow Port ends up two men short. Nelson Langmaid is on duty in front of the net clearing away two men at a time. Then Jessie Mullins saves the day by clearing away a loose puck. As luck would have it the clock ran out and Oshawa popped one in off the faceoff ' to win the game 4-3. Minden vs Pineridge Minden opened this game with two quick goals. Tyler Weisflock answers bringing the score £-1 from a pass from Chris Milligan. Amazing saves keeps the score 2-1 by Alec Nicholson. Jeff RE vonchogkt and John Daruwala are masters at keeping the puck in the opponents end. All alone, Mat Kaminga drills it home to tie the game 2-2. Kyle 'Mullins, Cassidy Webber and Tyler Weisflock are seen making some beautiful passes. All of a sudden the score is 4-2 for Min- den. Mark Carnochan stones a breaka- way. It's not enough. The score ends 4-2 Minden. Pineridge vs Orono Jessie Mitchian gives Port its start with a shorthanded goal. Nelson Lang- maid and Mark am stop a three on one charge. In the second periad Ty- son Savage drives the puck and hits the goal post. A beauty shot by Kyle Mullins 1s picked off by their goalie. Jeff Tomche- ski passes to Taylor Churchill who drills it from the point. What team work. Churchill is robbed.
