- hl "A Family Tradition for 130 Years" Legionnaires square off against tough opponents this week The Port Perry Peewee Legionnaires had a busy weekend. They entertained a determined squad from the Oshawa Little NHL on Friday night and then journeyed to Lindsay for a tough game on Saturday afternoon. On Friday evening, the team came out skating and checking very well and were rewarded with an early goal by Steve McLennan assisted by Mike Blakey. Early in the second period, Port scored again with Mike LeFort getting the goal and Dave Halward and Dane Gray the assists. Our goalie, Shane Fisher and D'arcy Stephens continued to make some fine saves. Our players continued to apply the pressure and gradually took control of this game. Dylan Harper and Derek Bond were called up due to injuries and ill- ness and showed terrific hustle. ; In the third period, Port goals went to Joe Schem- bri from Geoff Simpson; Mike LeFort from Adam Moynes and Steve McLennan, Matt Skerratt, Dave Halworth from Adam and Trevor Lance, and Mike Thompson from Derek Bond and Mike LeFort. The final score was 7-1 for Port Perry. Unfortunately, the boys did not fare so well in their game in Lindsay. Occasional defensive lapses led to our downfall. The score was 4-2 at the end of the sec- ond period. Our goals were scored by Joe Schembri on a pass from Adam Moynes, and David Halward on a fine individual effort. Early in the third period, Lindsay scored again but our guys did not give up. Geoff Simpson scored a pret- ty breakaway goal on a pass from Mike Blakey. Then Lindsay added two late goals to make the final score 7-3. SHL teams do battle Fill-in What an excitin of hockey at the Port Perry rink. It was the kids against their dads (and a mom).
