A Scugog fire watch Home chimney fire spreads Firefighters from both stations were called in to battle a blaze on Feb. 1. Station 1 responded to 202 Bigelow St. at 11:33 p.m. when a chimney fire was called in. Station 2 was called in at 11:44 p.m. to assist in extinguishing the fire. Extensive damage was the result after the fire spread from the chimney and into the walls and attic. Detector causes false alarm The Scugog Fire Department responded to a call on Jan. 29 when a carbon monoxide detector went off. The call came in at 3:24 p.m. from 172 Cedargrove Dr. Station 2 firefighters were dispatched to the scene but could not find a problem. Sewer floods basement Station 1 firefighters were also called to 419 Bay St. on Feb. 2 when a sewer back-up flooded a basement. Firefighters were called in at 1:06 p.m. when it was discovered the base- ment had been flooded because of a backed up sewer line. The basement was then pumped out by the fire department.
