Greeters were Richard and Janice MacKenzie. Christine and Dennis Yellowlees extinguished the Lent candles. Wendell White from Camp Quin-Mo-Lac was the speaker, and his sermon was "Re-Creation or Recreation." Karen Yellowlees was the organist. Next Sunday the guest speaker will be Ron Brittain. On Sunday, March 2 will be Sacrament of Baptism at Nestleton. Anyone wishing to present children are asked to contact the minister. Nestleton Presbyterian Church The congregation of Nestleton Presbyterian Church was happy to welcome Rev. Wm. Fairley back to the pulpit after a two-week holiday to Scotland. Being the first Sunday in Lent we started the annual pilgrim- age from Gethsemane to Calvary. As we make our spiri- tual journey we sve our indi- vidual lives, with God unchang- ing in His care and guidance. Responsive Psalm was No. 25 and the Biblical name was Noah and story of the Ark. . Scripture readings were from Genesis 9 and Mark 9. Ushers were Harvey Mills and Graham Ham. Joyce Taylor was organist. The Annual Church Meeting will be held Sunday, March 2 following the regular service. Lunch and fellowship were enjoyed in the Sunday School following the service. Blue Ray Chapter No. 238 O.E.S. On Thursday, Feb. 13 Blue Ray hosted the Grand Chapter Officers of Ontario. At 5:30 p.m. they sat down to a bountiful meal after which a memorable meeting took place when Mrs. Cathy Pavlik was initiated into the Order by the Grand Officers. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Jean Lee, Worthy Grand Matron of Ontario appointed Dolores Miles to the drill team for the Grand Session in August at the Constellation Hotel in Toronto. The meditation was titled "No Place For Islands," followed | with prayer by Bernice. The hymn "Trust and Obey" was sung. A poem "Handiwork of God" was read. Joan gave her treasurer's report. A few items of business were dealt with. Committees for the following month were planned. Aldine Wick was in charge of the pro- gram. and led us in the Bible story of Leah and Rachael. Brooklin Horticultural Society will meet on Wednesday evening of this week at 8 p.m. at Brooklin United Church. Ken Brown will present an entertaining and informative talk on using annuals in the perennial garden. On March 26 Craig Stubbs will be speaking on Hostas and other shade lov- ing plants. Family News On Saturday, Feb. 15 Rob and Carol Mairs and Dave Malcolm arrived home after spending an enjoyable week on a Caribbean Cruise courtesy of Napoleon Stoves. On Saturday, Feb. 8 Jennifer Yellowlees held a birthday party with five of her friends from school. Then on Sunday, Feb. 16 she had a family birthday with aunts and uncles and cousins. The 4-H Club Wearable Art will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Nestleton United Church. Anyone can contact Carol Mairs at 986-5382 or Linda Arbuckle at 986-5080 to sign up. Feb. 23 Nestleton United Church On a cold snowy Sunday Icehuts must go by end of the week The big news this week is the ice huts on Lake Scugog. They must be removed by Friday, Feb. 28. Pine Ridge Garden Club The first meeting for this year is slated for Tuesday, March 4. Starts off with a pot luck supper at 7 p.m. at Nestleton Hall. Bring your food in between 6:30 p-m. to 6:45 p.m. The garden club meets the first Tuesday of each month until the end of the year. Be sure to follow your pro- gram book for events.
