The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. upstairs at the Uxbridge Public Library. The group will meet every other Tuesday evening from that date. For some time, the Writers' Circle of Durham Region has wanted to increase its activities in the "north." The umbrella organization, which promotes excellence and networking in the writing field across Durham Region, assists several small informal circles to satisfy the needs of local pockets of published and unpublished authors. The Uxbridge Writers' Circle will be open to any area writers who want to share: to keep each other up-to-date on opportunities, contests and markets, and to receive honest critiques of their work from a circle of peers. Whether you're just starting out as a writer, or you're a published author looking for feedback to increase your chances of getting published, consider coming out for an evening. If there's one thing writers in the 90s have dis- covered, it's that networking and mutual support are critical to anyone pursuing a career in the arts.
