Adopted by Donald Harron from the popular novel by Lucy Maude Montgomery, the music was written by Norman Campbell, with additional lyrics by his wife, Elaine, and Mavor Moore. As most everyone knows, Anne (Janet | -~Green)is sent from an orphanage to the home of Marilla Cuthbert (Michele Jones) and her brother, Matthew (Walter Bone). Living on a small farm on the outskirts of the tiny village, Avonlea, they had requested a boy to help with the chores, as .Matthew has a weak heart. Instead, it was Anne who Matthew picked up at the train station. Marilla makes it clearly known she is not happy 1997.
