"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 17, 1997 -13 Thieves rob Nestleton home; haul worth $2,000 Thieves made off with close to $2,000 in loot when they broke into a Proutt Rd. resi- dence last week, say Durham Regional Police. Sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday (June 11), thieves entered the north Nestleton residence, police say. While there were no signs of forced entry, children returning home from school noticed that the front door was open as well as a patio door. Police say that thieves may have entered the house through windows left open because of last week's high temperatures. Once inside thieves stole a microwave, a two dual cassette players, two televisions and a VCR. Police say that a farmer saw a large black car in the driveway during the day, but thought nothing of it. Wallet stolen A wallet was stolen froma vehicle sometime overnight on Thursday (June 12), police report. A Summit Dr. resident arrived home shortly after mid- night and upon returning to the vehicle around 6:30 a.m., found the wallet had been taken. The wallet ccritained a bank card and driver's license as well as other personal items. Police also say that the thief used the stolen bank card to take $150 from the automatic teller machine at the Royal Bank. It is not known how the thief knew the victim's PIN number. Teen charged Durham Regional Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man after an inves- tigation into an incident last month. Police say that a man has been charged with the May 23- 24 theft of a Rally push lawn- mower, valued at $300. An 18-year-old Prince Albert resident was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 on June 11. Hay wagon gone Durham Police report that a Forage King Hay Basket hay wagon was stolen from a field south of Manchester early last weekend. Police say that the wagon was in a field on the north side Concession Four road when it was stolen sometime overnight between June 13-14. The red wagon is valued at $3,000.
