L 22- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 24, 1997 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Redmen even record with a win over Peterborough In their eighth game of the 1997 sea- son, the Brooklin Redmen defeated the Peterborough Deck Transport Lakers 9- 7 last Wednesday (June 18). Brooklin opened up a first period lead of 5-2 and kept the lead at the second intermission at 8-6. With .the win Brooklin evens their record at 4-4. Rob Blasdell played in goal for Brooklin, making a number of outstand- ing saves. Derek Collins started in goal for Peterborough but was replaced by Craig Milligan with about five minutes to go in the second period. Scoring for the Redmen: Paul St. John - one goal; Shaydon Santos - one goal, two assists; Pat Vanhooser - one goal; Doug Noganosh - one goal; Scott MacDonell - one goal; Jonas Derks - two goals; one assist; Shawn Williams - two goals; Matt McLean - five assists; John Fusco - two assists; and Rob Blasdell - three assists. Friday (June 20) the Redmen hosted the Brampton Excelsiors in the annual Minor Lacrosse night. Over 1500 minor lacrosse players from the Whitby, Orillia, Beaches and Markham lacrosse associa- tions were invited as the guests of the Redmen and that night's game sponsor, the Village of Brooklin. Also planned for that night were spe- cial pre-game ceremonies honoring for- mer Redman, the late Scott McMichael. McMichael, a leader on the Redmen for many seasons, passed away in February. NEWSPAPER SURVEY RESULTS - NEWSPAPER SURVEY Williams Tell Data Corp was commissioned by the Port Perry Star to do a survey to determine the views of area residents about the newspapers they receive and read, and to establish patronage and purchasing habits of residents living in the community. The survey was conducted via mail in Nov. and Dec. 1996 and implemented as outlined by the Canadian Advertising Research Foundation (CARF). A total of 420 names were selected at random by computer from telephone listings of residences in the Port Perry/Lake Scugog area.
