The heats ran sensibly enpugh with wins going to Ritchie Mannette (two), Larry Jackson and Ken Donaldson. The feature was a different story. Six yellow flags slowed the 20 lap event to an absolute crawl as seven of the 19 starters wound up behind the pit wall. When the checkered flag mercifully fell, it was Ken Donaldson leading the procession ahead of Dwight Brown and Darrin Wrigglesworth. Heartbreak of the night had to be suffered by series points leader Larry Jackson. After blowing the engine in his second heat race, Jackson and his crew removed the powerplant from brother Gary's ThunderCar and miraculously man- aged to get the unit buttoned down in time for the feature run. Fifteen laps in, Jackson had moved up to seventh spot but the next time 'round, the Oakville driver found himself collected in a five car, front straight melee. Final events in the fall From Page 23 The final two events in the series are scheduled for September 7 in the Ganaraska Forest and October 26 at the Bethany location. All the events are held off-road, and feature a mix of single and double track, varied terrain, and distances of 10, 20 and 40 kilometers. There is an excellent mix of fast track, twisty gnarly technical trail, and heart poundin hills to challenge even the most serious riders. Al events are sanctioned and insured by the Ontario Cycling Association.
