"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, August 6, 1997 - 29 Huge crowd enjoys fantastic beef feast About 1,000 adults and chil- dren enjoyed the 21st beef bar- becue on Friday, Aug. 1 at Greenbank Church. Overcast skies and a scattered shower cleared just in time to serve food. The entertainers which included the dancing "Outback Cloggers," the "Abernathy Duo" with their musical instru- ments, and "Jubilation" a newly formed vocal group of Greenbank ladies, performed until dusk to this large enthu- siastic crowd. The church board of stewards wish to take this opportunity to thank all who volunteered their help by serv- ing, setting up, cooking and carving meat, baking pies and directing traffic, cleaning up, those selling tickets and all who bought. From the young- sters of the Sunday School, the Youth Group and commu- nity folk to the eldest who helped in any way, you made this event a great success and your efforts are truly appreci- ated. On Sunday, Aug. 3 the funer- al service was held at Greenbank Church for one of the community's life-time resi- dents, Morley Raines, who was an active church, community and family person, a friend to many. He will be remembered by all who knew him. Our sym- pathy to Isobel, Neil and Pat, Greenbank area news by \ families and Marie at this time.
