St. John's News By Colin Beal This was another week when the folks at St. Johns felt both sadness and joy as we bade farewell to an old friend and welcomed a little child to the church. On Tuesday, Aug. 12 a small group of parishioners, friends and relatives gathered at St. John's Cemetery for the inter- ment of the ashes of the late Ivy Rahm. There was a brief, informal, ceremony during which Elaine Bailey placed the urn in the grave. Before she left Blackstock to live in British Columbia, Ivy had asked Elaine to do this when...," as Ivy had phrased it, "...I send myself home." Ivy was a long time resident of Cartwright and member of St. Johns where she was, for many years, the organist. During her years in Victoria B.C., Ivy kept in touch with friends in Blackstock and was very inter- ested in everything that hap- pened in the church and com- munity.
