"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 4, 1997 - 17 Homes, cars targets of vandals in pre-Halloween spree From page 1 before Halloween, a Police report that on Oct. 30, sometime around 11:30 p.m., three males were seen running away from a Caleb St. residence after windows were broken in both the home and a vehicle parked in the driveway. Police say that a rock thrown through a front window broke two panes of glass as well as a screen. Two passenger windows and a driver's window was also smashed in a 1991 GMC Safari van which was parked at the residence. Police also discovered three other windows were broken in the rear of the home. Vandals caused approximately $1,500 in damage around 11:30 p.m. when a large rock was tossed through a window in the main doors of Port Perry High School on Oct. 30. The rock was found inside the school, but there were no signs of entry and the alarm did not go off, say police. Police also report that 26 windows were smashed at R.H. Cornish Public School sometime overnight between Oct. 30 to 31. According to police, a custodian at the school reports that windows were smashed on both the east and west side of the public school, as well as the glass in a north door. The pumpkin smashed through the rear window of the vehicle, causing $400 damage. @ Two youths were apprehended by Durham Regional Police during the afternoon of Oct. 28 after a pumpkin was thrown through the front window of a Orchard Rd. home. Police say that between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., a pumpkin was tossed at the home and ripped through the screen before smashing through the window and landing on the floor. Two suspeets were seen running from the area and police later picked up two Borelia Court youths, who admitted to throwing the pumpkin and stealing a diary from the home. One 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were interviewed with their parents present, and it was agreed that they would return the stolen property and repair the damage. 0 Durham Regional Police were also called to a Water St. business around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 1 after vandals had played a Halloween prank and tossed a newspaper box through a 3' X 7" glass door.
