Mount Zion United Church pastor Ian Robb said the Ashburn area con- gregation will stage its yearly presentation twice on Dec. 14. Rev. Robb said the actors and spectators always enjoy the final product. "We always have a good group come out to perform and to watch it. I think we were probably the first church in the greater area to do it an an annual out- door production," he said in describing the 30-minute production. Everyone is asked to wear warm clothing and bring a cushion to sit on; the church brings in a portable bleacher unit for the evening. But Rev. Robb said once the scene begins people tend to forget about the elements. "It may be cold out there but when the lights dim, everyone becomes a part of the presentation; the audi- ence is drawn into it," he said. : "A lot of time and effort is put into making it a very visual and deeply spiritual experience for those who are there. And, for those involved in the production it is a great time for com- munity building and a lot of visiting takes place over the night." Following the scene chil- dren will have a chance to pet all the animals included in the show including Frisky the donkey, a couple of cows, some sheep, and a camel. Mt. Zion United Church The Northminster United Church 'of Oshawa is inviting par- tot group. = The group meets every Wednesday from 9am to 11am.
