On Nov. 14 Peterborough Nationals came to Port Perry to play what turned out to be an exciting close scoring game. The first goal came half way into the first period with Predators Dave Stewart scoring and Derek Goreski assisting. The Nationals tied the game up a few seconds later and it stayed tied until almost the end of the second period. Both teams made great attempts to gain the lead and we saw some terrific energy on end to end rushes by the boys. The goalies were really pummeled and Trevor Algar and Leo Taillon were super. Matt Roth finally put in the winning goal with LATLOM Associates Inc. DRIVER TRAINING CENTRE Consider the Gift of 'SAFE DEFENSIVE DRIVING SKILLS' this Christmas. Our first game, against a Richmond Hill AA team, saw the Predators coming out strong and full of energy. And despite the excellent team work and individual determination by Keenan Geer and Dave Stewart we were trounced 7-1. Game two of the day we played a Richmond Hill A team with the Port boys showing much enthusiasm and control- ling much of the game. Keenan Geer scored first for Port Perry and Tyler Cunningham assisted. Tyler Cunningham got the next goal with Kyle Mullins assisting and Matt Roth put our third in with Justin Jimms on the assist. Port got the opportu- nity to put this Richmond Hill team 'away in the third period with a super goal from Matt Menear and Jeff Tomcheski assisting. The final score put us into the C Championship for the final game of the day against the same Richmond Hill A team. Mark Carnaghan went in for us in goal and kept us in the game as Richmond Hill answered each one of our goals. Derek Goreski got the first goal for Port Perry with a fab- ulous hard shot from just inside the blue line. Shane Jeffrey assisted. Richmond Hill tied the period with 20 seconds left. Richmond Hill scored next in the second period but Port Perry tied it up a few minutes later when Adam Smart put an awe- some shot in, unassisted. Matt Menear put us ahead by one goal with one minute left in the sec- ond period. The third period was scoreless with 1-1/2 min- utes left when Richmond Hill scored to tie the game. Thirty seconds left in overtime Keenan Geer secured the win with a beautiful goal and the C Championship. Congratulations to all of you. Three days later the team went back to Peterborough to play the Nationals once again. Peterborough got on the board in the first 53 sec- onds of the game, but Trevor Algar stood his ground for most of the first period. Matt Menear fired up the team with a nice hard unassisted goal with just a few minutes left in the first period but 14 seconds later the Nationals put one in. Two minutes into the second period Kyle Mullins "hot" off the bench takes a pass from Shane Jeffrey dekes the goalie out and scores to tie the game. Mark Carnaghan took over goal keeping halfway through the second period and made some outstand- ing saves which kept us alive for the third period, which we ruled. Dave Stewart put in the third goal on an assist from Matt Menear and Kyle Mullins. Matt Menear came up with his second goal of the game next and Dave Stewart assisted. Not satisfied with two goals and one assist, Matt Menear carries the puck up from centre ice, goes around three opponents and makes it 5-3 for Port Perry. Kyle Mullins gets his second goal of the game on a fantastic play with Mike Lycett to end the game 6-3. I
