St. John's Anglican Church By Colin Beal On Saturday, Dec. 6 members of the choir of St. John's and their spouses gathered at the home of choir director, Catherine Corden, for a social evening which was highlighted by a 60s teen supper (hamburgers and chips with a few rather more sophisticated desserts). After dinner a "Murder Party" broke out. Now it was all totally above board, the untimely-deceased was a fictitious cheerleader. The teenaged suspects were all played by persons who had ceased to be teenagers well before the 60s but some, notably Father Hugh, his wife Peggy and Catherine herself, made valiant and almost effective efforts to turn the clock back. The evening was quite hilarious and we just can't wait for another similar game. Despite Saturday's late night, the choir was in great form on Sunday morning and continued . thus into the evening when we were guests at Blackstock United Church's annual Advent Carol Service. In addition to singing as part of the massed choir of Cartwright Churches we presented two musical pieces from the St. John's repertoire. It is always a thrilling experience to participate in this annual event. The Third Sunday of Advent 1s traditionally the day of the Children's Christmas Pageant at St. John's.
