Cartwright High The seniors of Cartwright thank the students and staff for their invitation to the usual delicious dinner followed by a wonderful band concert at Blackstock. With the recent upheaval of Bill 160 and our mixed feelings on both sides its wonderful that you have given us the opportunity to come together, listen to the band, have a social con- versation amongst our- selves and break bread together at this time of the year. It is something you should be very proud of and we are very thank- ful for. It sends to us all the true meaning of Christmas. Weather This past weekend got the gears running ready for another winter of ski- dooing, skiing, toboggan- Seniors anticipate C ing, etc. But they tell us it's a short winter cycle. Milder weather is com- ing. Boy are our winter enthusiasts ever disap- pointed. Well, look at the calendar, we are at the beginning not the end of the season. You can have better thoughts of winter to come. Scout News There will be a skating party at Blackstock Arena, Dec. 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for all Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts and their families of Cartwright District. Agincourt School Concert We attended another school concert this past HS dinner week in Scarborough. Our grandson, who is in a senior public school, and the Agincourt High put together an evening of strings, brass and choral music. The volume of students was such that all participants played only for a short period. However it was one delightful evening. Joke of the Week A father was talking to his son who had just joined the armed forces. The father had been a colonel before retiring, and the son asked what that position was. The father said, "Look it up in the dictionary." The son said, "I have it here: Kernel, the soft part of a nut." Saying of the Week The enjoyment of life would be instantly gone if you removed the possi- 'bility of doing something. Chauncey M.
