"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 30, 1997 - 29 Church packed to capacity for Christmas Eve service Happy birthday to Mrs. Stanley Venner, Betty Lou Beacock, Billy Sandiford, Logan Snider and Fred Nobbs. Sympathy of the community is extended to Harley and Audrey Horner and family on the death on Dec. 24 at the Port Perry Community Nursing Home of Harley's mother, Lillian Horner in her 99th year. Her funeral was held on Saturday at Richmond Hill, with Interment in Heise Cemetery, Woodbine Ave. Sympathy is also extended to Parish and Dianne Fisher, and the Coates family on the death on Saturday of Dianne's grandfather, David Coates, at the Port Perry Hospital. His funeral was on Monday from Low and Low Funeral Chapel, Port Perry. Kathy and Darrell Clement and their three children, Brendan, Stephanie and Alyssa of Chilliwack, B.C., have been enjoying the Christmas season with Kathy's par- ents, Bill and Karen Huestis and her grandparents Clarke and Lillian Ross. Don Beacock read the scripture from Luke 2: verses 22-40 at the church service on Sunday morning. Rev. Carson chose for his sermon "The Holy Family, Family Wholeness." He talked of the ministry of the seniors. In faithfulness to God, we elevate those whom we serve. Grandparents have a close relation- ship with their grandchildren. The choir sang "Joy is Now in Every Place." We are very grateful to our faithful choir and their leader and organist, Muriel Jebson, who has added much joy to our services all year with their choir talents. The church was filled to capacity for the Christmas Eve Service which was led by Rev. Ross Carson. The beautiful Christmas pageant, com- plete with the live calf, lambs, goat, hen and rabbit in the stable setting, and Mary and Joseph with the Baby Boy, was well presented. The com- bined choir from the three churches, with the organist, Muriel Jebson and pianist, Linda Hunter provided the musical numbers. The committee wishes to thank all those from Greenbank, Pinedale and Seagrave, who helped with the planning, the stage scenery, the pageant, work crew, and those who brought the ani- mals. And thanks to Paul and Marilyn for lending their little son, Scott. Thanks to all who helped to make this such a beautiful service. Next Sunday, Communion will be celebrated at the usual time of 10 a.m. The U.C.W. will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Gary and Donna Sweetman. Please bring your annual reports.
