'Durham Regional Police report that J. Michel Girouard was driving his 1995 Chev pickup north- bound on Regional Rd. 30 around 7:45 p.m. when he lost control and went through the west guardrail and camg to rest in the waters of Island Lake. "The accident occurred between Wagg Rd. and Regional Rd. 6, and damage to the truck is estimated to be about $20,000, according to police. Mr. Girouard, the driver and lone occupant of the truck, was later pronounced dead at the Uxbridge site of the North Durham Health Services. An investigation into three Oshawa pawn shops has led police to recover and attempt to identify a number of stolen goods from Havelock, Cobaconk, and Port Perry area homes, sheds, and cottages.. The items, say police, include electronics, garden supplies, household items, boat motors and snowmo- biles. As a result of their investigation, Durham Police have charged two youths and one adult in relation to a number of crimes. Police on lookout for young thieves Stolen 4x4 truck found A 1992 GMC 4x4 truck was . turned over to Peterborough OPP on Feb. 26 after the vehicle was found abandoned on the West Quarter Line near Byers Rd., say police. The truck; which had gone missing from the Cavan area, was found during the evening with the engine left running, say police.
