Icy road conditions caused a 30-year-old Scugog woman to lose control of her 1989 Ford Tempo, police said. The eastbound car hit a patch of ice and slid into the westbound lane, where it collided with a 1990 Dodge Shadow dri- ven by a 47-year-old Devitts Rd. woman, police said. The driver of the Tempo was taken to hospital in Port Perry where she was treated for a number of cuts around her eye, mul- tiple abrasions and contu- sions. She was later released. The Devitts Rd. resi- dent was taken to Oshawa General Hospital where she was treated for a frac- tured right heel, right knee and right arm as well as an injured ster- num. The Tempo sustained $4,000 damage while the Shadow received approxi- mately $2,500. Both vehi- cles were destroyed in the accident, say police. No charges were laid because poor road condi- tions led to the collision, add Durham Police. Funny money Durham Regional Police were called to the Bank of Montreal in Port Perry last week after a counterfeit bill was dis- covered in a business deposit. Police say a fake $10 bill was deposited at the bank on March 2. The phony bill carried the ser- 1al number BDJ797792'.
