8- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 10, 1998 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Police report Theft of tools investigated Durham Regional Police were called to a Casimir St. home to investigate the theft of tools from a garage last week. Police report that sometime between March 4 and 7 thieves entered the garage through a side door and made off with close to $400 worth of tools. [tems missing include: a scroll saw, compact radial arm saw, a belt sander, finishing sander, and a cordless drill. During the same time frame, police were called to a Port Perry home where more than $1,000 worth of tools were stolen. Police say thieves pried open a locked garage door at a Simcoe St. home some- time between Feb. 28 and March 7. Stolen from the garage were a Husquavarna 24" chainsaw valued at $600; an impact wrench air tool; Makita cordless drill; and a 10" drill press. Stolen car Police are investigating the theft of a car after it was stolen, and then dumped in Port Perry less than 24 hours later. Police said a blue, two-door 1990 Pontiac was stolen from the front of a Hwy. 12 residence near Greenbank some- time between 9:30 and 10:15 p.m. Saturday (March 7). It was found the next morning on Old Simcoe St. north of Port Perry, with its steering column punched out and the front and side windows smashed. The car, which is valued at $5,000, was taken to a local impound yard. Tires slashed A Scugog Island resident had the tires on his car slashed on the weekend. Durham Regional Police report that a Stephenson's Point Rd. resident parked his car on Queen St. overnight and when he returned to it around 8 a.m. the next morning, found the rear tires had been deflated. The incident occurred sometime overnight between March 6 and 7, say police.
