Two Port Perry resi- dents wanted by police here have been apprehended for theft in British Columbia. Sgt. Ken Hudson, an officer with Port Perry's Durham Regional Police 26 Division, said Friday morning that a 17-year- old Port Perry woman and a 2l-year-old man of no fixed address, were arrest- ed by Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers in the Vancouver area on Thursday (March 19). Sgt. Hudson said that Durham Police had received tips that the pair may have headed to the west coast, and had informed officers in B.C. A Canada-wide apprehen- sion warrant had been issued for the two on March 2. The woman, who faces 11 charges in Ontario including various break- and-enter and possession charges, was arrested by police last week after she allegedly stole more then $2,500 from the Vancouver store she worked at. She later pleaded guilty AYA} STOCK A Be 20 to the B.C. charge and was sentenced to 30 days in custody. Police are current- ly arranging to have her flown back to Ontario. The two were wanted by police after an investi- gation at three Oshawa pawn shops led police to recover and identify a num- ber of stolen goods from Havelock, Coboconk, and Port Perry area homes, sheds, and cottages. The 21-year-old male suspect was arrested with the female in B.C. He flew back to Toronto Sunday and turned himself into Durham Police yesterday morning. He will face a total of 14 charges in Ontario including: Seven counts of possession of stolen property; one count of theft under $5,000; one count of possession of a firearm with no Firearms Acquisition Certificate (FAC); one count of unsafe storage of a firearm; and four counts of break-and- enter. A 17-year-old Port Perry man was also arrested and charged in relation to the thefts. Police say a 32-year- old Port Perry woman was northbound when she lost control of her car and it slid sideways into a CHRIS HALL/PORT PERRY STAR southbound vehicle driven by a 67-year-old | Haliburton man. Pefferlaw woman dies in A 51-year-old Pefferlaw woman was killed Saturday after she collided head-on with another vehicle south of Greenbank, according to a report from report Whitby's Ontario Provincial Police detachment. Police say that Gail Davis, and a 14-year-old boy were northbound on Highway 12, approximately one kilometre south of Greenbank, just after 9 p.m. on March 21 when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a accident on Highway 12 southbound Jeep driven by 55-year-old Robert Mackey of Pontypool. Weather conditions at the time of the accident were snowy and windy, said police. A boy and two people in the southbound vehicle, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Port Perry hospital where they were treated. The Pefferlaw woman succumbed to her injuries.
