Sgt. Ken Hudson, an officer with Port Perry's 26 Division, says that in light of recent arrests and charges made by police, teen activity in the area has dropped. "We've been doing more and more patrols in problem areas such as Blackstock and the Port Perry Plaza; the places we know youths frequent- ly hang out. "We are further trying to enforce the "zero tolerance" position we have taken in hopes of stopping some of the things that are going on," he said yesterday, listing loiter- ing and obstructing as two of the concerns many residents have about large crowds of youths hanging around. "People want to be able to go about their way and not be dis- turbed; they don't want people obstructing them. They want to be able to go on about their normal, every day activities." Problem areas, such as Blackstock, haven't been a concern of late, he continues. "Things are settling down. The kids are co-operating with us and you can see a change there. It has been a lot better there recently than what it was. We've talked to a few of the kids there and we know what they're doing," he said, adding there was no problems last weekend and that only a small core cause trouble.
