18- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 2, 1998 Tavern owner will plead not guilty to licence infractions Port Perry tavern owner Jon Waite began his fight against two charges Friday in Provincial Offences court at Whitby by voicing his intention to plead not guilty at his first opportu- nity. Mr. Waite and Raymond Aklen, an employee of Sledheads and Softtails, on Water St. in Port Perry, were both charged for infractions under the Liquor Licence Act when police entered the premis- es to investigate allega- tions that a person who was already intoxicated had been served alcohol there. Police say that they observed an employee wearing bike club para- phernalia in the form of a baseball hat with the let- ters SCMC on it. This is contrary to a condition of the liquor licence issued to Waite. The crown alleges SCMC is an acronym for Satans Choice Motorcycle Club. Mr. Aklen asserts it stands for Simcoe County Motorcycle Company, a business for which he car- ries a business card. The two men will return to court to set a trial date on Sept. 25, at which time they will be represented by a lawyer.
