The Memorial picture of the Centennial year "1996" donated to the church by Ruth Foster and Ruby Beare is now hanging in the vestibule of the church. Our thanks to Jim Rushford for making a plaque. Doris Hill and Earla Stanfield attended a bridal shower on Sunday for Miss Dianne Mahaffey at Columbus. John and Marilyn Somerville called on Glen and Mary Jean Till last Wednesday. Aileen Dobson, Glen and Mary Jean Till called on Hugh Dobson at Manilla to help celebrate a special birthday. Miss Veronica Vargas from Queretaro Mexico has spent the last two months with the Hunter families to have a holiday and learn more of the English lan- guage. She has now returned to Mexico. She fit in to life in Greenbank well and will be missed. Special thanks to the crew of volunteers who pitched in to help clean up the large maple which fell over in the park on Sunday morning. A group of about 10 helped to trim branches and cut up the limbs. On May 23, the Lions, with the help of Claude Petrie and friends, ran a successful country western dance. Everyone had a great time and the profits will be used to improve and maintain the park. Thanks to all the Lions for the setup, clean up and bar tending and a special thanks to all the musicians who donated their talents. Sadly I report that on Saturday, May 30 someone sprayed black paint on signs and buildings in Greenbank and the park. This behavior is new to Greenbank as most of us respect all the time and effort local volunteers put into our wonderful park. Anyone with information please phone 985-3723. 4 Police Report Canal St. thieves grab TV, VCR Durham Police were called to a Canal St. cot- tage after thieves broke in and stole numerous items.
