NE nd PL Ss BE SS SS a "A Family Tradition for 132 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 2, 1998 - 35 Getting things ready for the upcoming Epsom Indy Third annual competition is set for June 20 Utica & The weatherman had a few of the Epsom-Utica Church Board scrambling to make alternate plans for service on Sunday that had to be re-routed from the Warner home to Epsom Church. Despite the stormy weather outside, the ser- vice went pretty much true to form, except when the hydro went out. The Sunday School graduation ceremonies were carried out and plans for hot dogs, cake, etc. were changed to cake and refreshments. Plans will be made at a later date for the pool party at the Warners. Epsom people were busy cleaning up debris, fallen branches, trees, etc. on Sunday morning due to the storm. I understand that Uxbridge was hit a lot hard- er. A prayer circle for heal- ing will be held in Utica Church on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for anyone inter- ested to come and pray together for healing and especially to remember Mike Wallace and pray for him. The next Youth Group meeting will be held on Friday, June 5 at Epsom Church beginning at 7 p.m. Please bring $1 to help with the cost of drinks and snacks. They will be getting ready for the next couple of exciting weekends planned for June. Remember to mark your calendars for June 13 for the Camp Scugog weekend (which includes sleeping over) and June 20 for the Epsom Indy. Along with many volunteers, the youth group will offer a jelly-bean guessing contest, face painting, and a freezie stand, all while the soapbox derby races are underway. All youths ages 10 to 15 are welcome to join. Please call Elaine or Mike at 852- 0119 for more details. Sunday, June 7 will be a joint service at Goodwood Church, the Sunday Night Live group from Wilfred/Pefferlaw/Udora Church will be guests, pro- viding contemporary music and drama. The service will start at 10 a.m. On Sunday, June 7 the Breadalbane Presbyterian Church in Utica will hold their annual decoration service starting at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Sandy Beaton and the Four Dads will provide the music. On Tuesday, June 9, the U.C.W. are planning to visit Cullen Gardens and invite anyone who wishes to go to please get in touch with Elva Kerry so that arrange- ments can be made for transportation. They are planning to leave Utica Church at 11 a.m., have lunch before touring the gardens. Utica Hall Board mem- bers be reminded that the next meeting is on Tuesday, June 9 at 8 p.m. in the hall. Eileen Rogers of Bowmanville visited with Elva on Friday. Jack and Nancy Skelding attended the graduation ceremonies on Friday afternoon when their daughter Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology "Honors Program" at Trent University in Peterborough. Congratulations Karen on your achievement.
