Police say that a 29- year-old Claremont man and a friend were riding their new 100cc Seadoos around Lake Scugog on June 21 at approximately 10 a.m. when the Claremont man's machine began to act up. The two tuned and head- ed towards Goreski's Resort for some assistance. Upon entering the canal there, the man's machine stalled by a boat slip and would not restart, say police. The man made numer- ous attempts to start the machine. Police believe there was a build-up of gas under the seat. When the engine finally started it ignited the gaso- line under the seat and blew it, and the man, into the air. He was ashore by the boat slip and was taken by ambulance to the Port Perry hospital where he was treated for a sore back from the blast.
