"We think we have a pretty good week- end lined up that everyone will enjoy. Last year was the 25th year and it was bigger; this year we're back to a relaxing, family pace... back to reality." The only thing he says is missing from the weekend is volunteers. Anyone inter- ested in helping out for the weekend or just a few hours is asked to call Mr. Callan at 985-2635 or the Chamber office at 985- 4971. Ford caravan will make stop in Port Expect to see a lot of brand new, 1999 Ford Windstars in Port Perry for a couple of days next month. The Ford Motor Co. of Detroit is unveiling its 1999 Windstar, and about 100 automotive writers and their significant others have been invited to test drive the new vans across parts of Canada and the U.S. Port Perry will be one of the stops on this promo tour for three days towards the end of next month. Scugog council has granted the drivers permission to park in the municipal lot near the Water St. north baseball diamonds on the mornings they are to be in Port Perry. The members of the tour plan to have a picnic lunch in Palmer Park while they stop in the community. For exclusive use of the municipal parking lot, Ford has agreed to make a donation to the township parks fund. But members of council were only too happy to cooperate with over 100 writers expected to be make up the tour, saying this kind of positive expo- sure and publicity for the community is something money can't buy.
