However, those of us who aren't currently on strike or shut down because of strikes elsewhere have to keep on plugging away, making hay while the sun shines. Here's our wish list for the season: o That the efforts being taken by Scugog councillors to make traffic flow more effi- ciently and safely in Port Perry work. Keeping cars from parking close to busy corners is a good start; enforcement of impolite parking in other parts of town would help, too. a That the annual posting of the local swimming areas doesn't occur. Total: $4,081,860. The Liberals' idea of equality is 50 per cent for Quebec, and 50 per cent for the rest of Canada. This example is only a tip of the ice- berg. Our Francophone-led government is The Ontario Carriage Works building was built major fire in Port Perry. It is located on the corner of Perry and Mary St. This beautiful building was partially destroyed by fire during the 1900s. in 1884, following the last Time for English Canada to wake up Today, the former Ontario Carriage Works building is the home to the Port Perry Liquor Store. The building of 1998 has none of the aesthetic qualities of the building when it was constructed over 100 years ago. Progress? instituting its own brand of affirmative action ~ for Francophones, where English speaking Canadians are systematically being denied access to the top jobs in both the federal civil service, the armed forces and program funding. It is essential that our local MPs speak out on behalf of his constituents and the rest of Canada. Don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. They must vote the way Chretien and the French hierarchy tell him to. English Canada had better wake up and speak up while it still has the chance to. Lynda Mitchell, Pontypool yo...
