Karen Yellowlees was the organist for the service. With Ministry of Music the congregation sang "Spirit of Gentleness" and also "I'll Be A Sunbeam." Rev. The second Annual "Peeping Tom" Barbecue will be on Thursday, July 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the manse in Blackstock. Donations are accepted for the Window Fund for the manse. Rain date for this event will be July 16. There will be no service at Nestleton United Church on July 26 and Aug. 2 as Rev. David Shearman will be on holidays. There will be a miscellaneous community shower for Jennifer Arbuckle at Nestleton United Church on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. Nestleton Presbyterian Church The regular morning service was led by Rev. Wm. Fairley in the Nestleton Presbyterian Church, with Joyce Taylor the organist. Ushers were Harvey Mills and Oliver Rohrer. Shirley Mills taught Sunday School. Psalm selection #77 was read Get your wheels washed and shined at the Junior Farmers' car wash responsively, and scripture readings were from 11 Kings 2: 1-15 and Luke 9: 51 to end. Rev. Fairley's message to the chil- dren was "Always Do Your Best For Jesus." In his sermon she spoke of how we should change. Following the service the annu- al picnic at the home of Joyce Taylor was enjoyed by all. Lots of lunch for everyone, and games for the Sunday School children. We parted with greet- ings to each other for a pleasant and healthy summer, as we will close now for the Sundays in July and August. There will be renovations done to the Sunday School room during the summer break. There will be no services held during July and August. Last week's storm left its mark on several area homes Worship service will be held this Sunday, July 5 in Utica Church beginning with hymn sing at 9:30 a.m. with worship service starting at 10 a.m. A spe- cial offering will be taken to assist the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Port Perry to rebuild. Bring your lawn chairs and a celebration of communion will be held outdoors. Mark your calendars for July 11 when a (Straw?) Berry Social will be held in Utica Hall starting at 7:30 p.m. This Pastoral Charge together with Blackstock - Nestleton and Manchester - Scugog Island will present an evening of light refreshment and - light entertainment with pro- ceeds going to Lake Scugog Camp. If unable to attend, perhaps you would like to buy a ticket to sup- port this cause. Tickets are avail- able from Gail Kerry, Darlene Christie, Bill McKay, just to name a few. The community was saddened this week to hear of the passing of Ted Bridge on Friday, June 26 in Port Perry Hospital. Our sym- pathy is extended to his wife Joan and son Bill, daughters Brenda and Bonnie and their family. Services were held on Monday, June 29 from Wagg Funeral Home with Interment at Hillman Cemetery, Utica. Utica & Epsom by Our best wishes to Archie Watson for a speedy recovery from a recent fall and to Hazel Medd who was recently hospital- 1zed following a fall but has since returned to the nursing home. Mrs. Sadie McAfferty of Paisley, Scotland has returned to her home following a month long visit with her brother John Bradbury and Jane. While here she enjoyed the hot weather and a visit with friends and relatives in the surrounding area. The storm on Thursday evening left its mark on several residences in our area. Apparently a house on the 4th Line sustained damage when fire resulted from a lightening strike. Hail hit in some areas and others like myself found that the television had lost its power, some had computers knocked out as well as other appliances. Some trees didn't fare too well and gardens had damage. Garden teas held each weekend this summer The Oshawa Sydenham Museum will hold a series of garden teas this summer.
