"We agreed to a six-foot fence on the inside (closest to the golf course) and a four-foot on the other side (near the homes)," said Mr. Cuddie. "They are both to be chain link. "Any other height men- tioned was not in the deal when we signed it; we are not working with earlier heights, only those said in the agreement," said Mr. Cuddie, adding that fences with the correct height do not need to be in place until the final inspection of the subdivision is done. He expects that to happen sometime next year. Mr. Kelly is also con- cerned that the chain link fence bordering the golf course and public walkway provides no privacy for home owners. "There's a walkway between the golf course and homes where people come through and they can look in and see what we are doing. You can't relax in your backyard with a drink and a friend without someone gawking in at you," he said. "They say they spent $3 million on building this golf course; all the best sand and grass and what- ever. You'd think they could put a little of their money towards putting up an eight-foot privacy fence." He added that in the event his property sustains any damage as a result of a golf ball, he'll pursue the township for reparations. Also concerned about flying golf balls is neighbor Janice Kavanagh, a five- year resident on Coulcliff Blvd. "We keep getting the odd balls flying in here," she said. "You can hear them when they come cracking off the trees; it makes you nervous when working in the garden. "We have windows in the back of our house I'm worried about and we're just concerned about peo- ple's safety." Durham Regional Police report that a Regional Rd. 19 resident was outside working on his farm between 8:45 and 11:30 a.m. on July 13. When he returned - home, he discovered that thieves had entered the home through a connect- ing garage door to house. Thieves stole the man's wallet, a $250 Toshiba VCR, a 27" Zenith color television worth $780, and a $800 Minolta cam- era with various lenses. Two days later, police say, the victim received a phone call from a resident two miles down the road who found the man's wal- let in the ditch. All documents were still there but $50 in cash was missing. Tools stolen A View Lake Rd. is missing close to $7,000 in various tools after thieves broke into a garage some- time overnight between July 15 and 16. After breaking a lock on the garage, police say thieves stole a number of saws, power equipment and a welder as well as other tools from a tool chest.
