Call The Star t On Saturday, Oct. 17 Debra Fraser and Tom Coles were married by Father Hugh in St. John's, Blackstock. The wedding ceremony was fol- lowed by Eucharist, celebrated by Father Hugh. A reception for the many guests was held in the Parish Hall after the service. During the Sunday Eucharist on Oct. 18, Father Hugh received baby Sean Kenneth Russell Campbell into the church in the Sacrament of Baptism. Sean is the son of Alan and Kim Campbell. Welcoming little Sean into the church were members of the congregation of St. John's together with the family who witnessed the ceremony. A special meeting of the Advisory Board will be held in the Parish Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. This meeting is not just for members of the Advisory Board, the top- ics for discussion will centre on the future of our church and parish so input from any and all parishioners will not many relatives and friends of St. John's Church News only be welcome but, in fact, will be vital to the success of the planning. Upcoming at St. John's - on Saturday, Nov. 7 the annual St. John's Fall Supper. Don't miss this annual community event. Advance tickets are available from parishioners. On the following evening, Sunday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. St. John's will again host the annual All Saints, Ecumenical Evensong for the churches of Cartwright. At this event, the choirs of the Cartwright churches combine in the beau- tiful service of Evensong and then present a concert during which each choir performs pieces from its own church's musical tradition and then the choirs combine for a grand finale. There's also lots of con- gregational singing. Following the concert there will be refreshments and fel- lowship in the Parish Hall. If you've attended this event in past years, you'll certainly wont' want to miss this one - if vou've never been to one of these services, do come, we promise you a musical treat. Annual Fall Supper set for Nov. 7 Colin Beal October ONO Eleven members and two guests met at Nancy Bryans' home for a delicious pot luck dinner on Thursday, Oct. 15. The minutes were read and approved and the treasurer's report given. On Monday, Nov. 16 the Arthritis Society speaker will be in Blackstock. ONO will help the Women's Institute sponsor this evening. It was decided that ONO continue to award prizes to the top student in Grade 9 and 10 at Commencement at Cartwright High School again this year. Rhonda Rundle sent word of an open house being held on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Youth Drop-In Centre. Everyone is welcome to come and see what 1s offered there. It was sug- gested that a community com- mittee be soon formed to plan for a Community New Year's Eve celebration for 1999. We welcomed two new mem- bers, Gail Mason and Helen Coates.
