"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Dave Ellis, playing the Young Boy, and Kathleen Farquharson in the role of the Housekeeper go through a scene of the Borelians' upcoming play The Dining Room. The production, which sees actors assuming a number of roles during the evening, opens Thursday night at Town Hall 1873 and continues through the weekend, followed by performances Oct. 29 and 30. Tickets are available in advance at Henshall's on Queen St. The Borelians of Port Perry enjoyed playing multiple roles so much in last year's production "Ten Lost Years" that they're doing it again in the comedy "The Dining Room" by A.R. Gurney. Nine actors portray 55 characters in this remarkable play, presented by the award-winning community theatre group. Ruth Smith, directing the Borelians for the first time, is taking the challenge in stride. "The actors have to do a great deal of work on their own to develop each char- acter, and my job is bringing it all togeth- er," she said. "But when we first worked on the birthday party scene, with the actors playing six year olds, we fell apart laugh- ing." A.R. Gurney, best known for his play 8 Thursday's opening night | for Borelians' Dining Room "Love Letters," has written 18 scenes and woven them into a play that is both touching and hilarious. The audience 1s allowed a glimpse into the lives of families, lovers, children, and friends in the dining rooms of our past and present lives. Performance dates are Oct. 22, 23, 24, 29 and 30, with a matinee perfor- mance on Sunday, Oct. 25. Tickets are available at Henshall's Clothiers for $12, with two-for-one admission on Thursday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 29. Reserved seating is available. A special "Theatre and Lunch" pack- age 1s available for $26 for the Oct. 25 matinee performance. This includes a three course meal at Emiel's Restaurant. Other special dates are "Meet The Cast Night," Oct. 22 and Adjudication night, Oct. 30.
