Both teams received strong goaltending from Tim Gibson and Gaelen Taylor. Steve Larmer led the way for Laurentian with two goals and two assists. Singles were credited to Kyle Passmore and Stuart Medford. Emiel's two goals came from Matt Morrison and Matt Tennant and both were unassisted efforts. Metheral managed a shot on Greg Schell in the Bullet net and Bonnevld pounced all over the rebound. From close range, he whirled around and drilled the fore- hand shot that beat Schell cleanly. As the score indicates this was a tight- checking affair for the most part with most of the scoring done in the final period. With the Bullets ahead 2-1 early in the third, Odette tied the game with a power play goal after a Bobcaygeon player was nailed for a five-minute knee- ing major that knocked Jason Ansen out of the game with a knee injury. He had to be helped from the ice, but apparently suffered no permanent damage. Just past the mid-point, the ModJacks went up 3-2 on a fine shot by Metherel who beat Schell cleanly with 30-footer low to the glove side. Matt Glen and Bonneveld drew the assists on this one. But the Bullets sent the game into OT at 16:18 as Ryan Anderson found the net behind Jeff Mackie with a rising shot on the glove side that was partly screened. The ModJacks other goal came from Hansen in the first period. Captain Jeff Clarke carried the puck deep into the Bullet zone and Hansen was able to get a stick on a loose puck to tip it over the line. Clarke and Adam Jones picked up the assists on this power play marker. Adam Bonneveld, who led the Central League in scoring last season, had a three-point night including the game winner in OT. He was also the victim of a vicious check-from-behind deep in the Bullets' zone that sent him crashing head first into the boards. There was no penalty call on that play, but the ref seemed to crack down on Bullet fouls from that point on. Fortunately, Bonneveld was able to shake off any ill effects from his head-first plunge into the boards. SLAPSHOT'S: The MoJacks now have eight points, good enough for a fourth place tie with Little Britain (pending the outcome of the Merchants game Sunday) and three up on Bobcaygeon who dwell in the basement. Next action for the ModJacks is this coming Saturday night when they take on the Merchants in Little Britain (7:30 faceoff) and the game is one of those proverbial "four pointers" as these two teams are battling for fourth spot in the standings. On Sunday night (7 p.m.) the ModJacks host the Georgina Ice, a team that has given the green and white trou- ble so far this year. The MoJacks may have forward Tom Chambers back in uniform for the week- end games. He's been on the shelf for three weeks with a shoulder injury. He's a strong checker who can also pop in a goal and the MoJacks will welcome his return to action. The team has struggled through the first 11 games this season and one of the big problems has been a lack of scoring punch -- they've scored just 30 goals in those 11 games. With four points in the last two games, Bonneveld seems to be getting on track, but several other players are struggling to get the puck in the net.
