Scugog Island Women's Institute By Betty Reader Sixteen members met at the Scugog Island Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. The roll call "What would you like - to learn how to do this next year?" was answered by naming: crocheting, silk embroidery, calligraphy, guitar and tatting. A video on "Literacy, the Hidden Problem" is to be passed around to all members to view at home. Motions were made and passed that we give $200 each to the Port Perry High School's Music Dept. and Family Studies and $100 to Operation Scugog. Bonnie Gerrow reported 174 mem- bers attended the Central Area Convention. There are 1096 members in the area. The next Ontario South District Annual sponsored by Shirley Women's Institute will be on Thursday, May 20, 1999 and catered by our branch. The Motto "How Children Learn" was given by Jan Gerrow. Gloria Fralick and Wanda Sears showed us how to cover a glass plate using Mod Podge and material with beautiful results.
