On Friday, Dec. 4 there will be a pot luck supper in Epsom Church at 7 p.m. and all those who helped Utica & Epsom Mitch fund netted a generous $52.19 thanks to the generous or pie-hungry people. Another fundraiser for the church held recently was the Pampered Chef party which profited $121.86. Get well wishes go with the harvest of the corn for the Foodgrains Bank are invited plus anyone who is interested in this project. The Township of Scugog is partici- pating in a "Corporate Challenge" Christmas Food Drive to help less for- tunate families in the township. The challenge date is from Dec. 2 to 16 in conjunction with Port Perry High School. Non-perishable foods or cash donations can be dropped off at the township office or any township facility. Our local councillor has left a box at Utica Hall for anyone who would like to donate, and maybe save them from getting their head shaved. The Church's Beef Supper on Friday evening was a huge success earning approximately $1,550. Thanks to all who helped. The second piece of pie jar were son Allan, his daughter Sandra out to Ted Croxall who is in Toronto General Hospital having underwent heart surgery. Utica Daycare Christmas Pageant 1s Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Utica Church. Neil Taggart had a nasty accident on the Marsh Hill Rd. Thursday night. We trust he will soon be released from hospital in Port Perry. John and Florence Wiersma visited Ross and Barb Evans and all attended the Holstein Show at the Royal Winter Fair recently. Recent visitors with Ruth Ashton Ludyka and children, Helen Johnson of Glen Major and her granddaughter Katie Johnson. Bake sale deemed a success Congratulations to Trish and Vince Dawson on the birth of their first child Michel Robert Vincent Dawson. : Sympathy of the com- munity is extended to Deborah Coulston. Her dad passed away last week in British Columbia after a long health struggle. Clarence and Gretyl Cameron travelled to Powassan (near North Bay) recently to celebrate Russel Cameron's 60th birthday, Clarence's broth- er. Get well wishes to Clarence Cameron who is recovering after a cataract operation and to many others in the community who are ill or in hospital. Happy birthday this week to Brody Campbell, John Hillis and Lynette Roy. The variety program Seagrave Ann Sandiford and bake sale.on Friday evening was well attended and the many musical numbers were much enjoyed by all. At the church service on Sunday, James and Wendy Hudgins presented their son, Quentin James for baptism. James trans- ferred his membership from Newburg, Ontario and Wendy was confirmed to the Seagrave Church. Rev. Carson was assisted by the Clerk of Session, Don Beacock. Amanda Hill led the congregation in the motions during the prayer of confession. The choir sang "Come We That Love The Lord." (We Are Marching to Zion). Rev. Carson's sermon was "Defining Paradise" from the Gospel of Luke 23, vs 33 to 44. Seagrave U.C.W. are hosting their Christmas pot luck luncheon on Friday, Dec. 4 at noon at the Seagrave Church. Beautiful poinsettias decorated the chancel. Rev. Fairley spoke to the Sunday School on the Lord's Prayer, reminding them the last phrase "Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory." The power of God is seen in God's love. In the sermon, Rev. Fairley's mes- sage was "Christ is King," as we enter the season of Advent - the first Sunday of Advent will be Sunday, Nov. 29 and Christmas Communion will be on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. Lunch and social time were enjoyed and a November birthday was celebrated.
