The accused, including seven Scugog Township men, appeared before an Oshawa court last Thursday (Nov. 26) and to have a date for their hearing set in the new year. The men face charges i in connection with a construction equipment theft ring that police estimate involved property worth more than $3 million. Officers from the OPP's Provincial Auto Theft Team (PATT) executed 24 search warrants and recovered more than 40 pieces of machinery. The investigation began here, but spread to communities throughout Ontario's Golden Horseshoe region. More arrests are expected. Also seized were three restricted guns, including a fully automatic AK-47 assault rifle and two SKS military assault rifles, in possession of a Scugog man. Search warrants were executed by in Blackstock last July. Charged are: 0 Michael McCoy, 38, of Toronto, with 22 counts of pos- session of stolen property over $5,000; a Michael Bauinchen, 31, McKee Rd., Blackstock, with six counts of possession of stolen property 'and nine weapons- related charges; 0 Richard Puckrin, 47, Regional Rd. 57, Blackstock, with five counts of possession of stolen property: a Ronald Robinson, 61, of Oshawa, two counts of possession of stolen property; 0 Warren Rohrer, 49, of View Lake, with two counts of possession of stolen property; 0 Jeff Wallace, 30, Edgerton Rd., Blackstock, one count of possession of stolen property; a Eric O'Brien, 38, of Fenelon Falls, one count of possession of stolen property: 0 Edward Jones, 47, of Oshawa, one count of possession of stolen property; 0 Edward Irwin, 39, Regional Rd. 3, Clarington, one count of possession of stolen property; 0 Valerie Gould, 40, of Edgerton Rd., Blackstock, with one count of possession 'of stolen property; 0 Clyde Brewster, 33, of Edgerton Rd., Blackstock, with one count of possession of stolen property. 0 Wayne Malcolm, 53,0f Malcolm Rd. in Nestleton, with two counts of possession of stolen property. Concert benefits Alzheimer Society The Alzheimer Society of Durham Region is hosting its first annual Christmas Concert Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. The concert will feature perfor- mances by: The Wilmot Creek Seniors Chorus, Sweet Charity, Festival Singers and the Barbershoppers.
