"A Family Tradition for 133 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 19, 1999 - 19 Port missing three key players after Sunday's brawl! with Lakefield From Page 18 were all out for fighting and Adam Bonneveld was in the box for a roughing minor. Clarke and Patrick got their suspensions for fighting after an initial fight had broken out. Ditto for Forbes who got an addi- tional two games for being third man into a scrap. The Chiefs were playing six skaters to five at the time as their goalie was out for an extra attacker. They continued to buzz all around Modack goalie Jeff Mackie through the first four minutes of OT. He made numer- ous difficult stops, but could only do so much until Chief Captain Jamie Heffernan col- lected a loose puck in the deep slot and had all kinds of time to "tee it up" for a hard shot through a melee of players and into the top half of the net. The MoJacks had a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes on goals by Paul Hansen, Forbes and Adam Jones who hit with a nifty short- handed marker late in the second after he stole the puck inside the Chief line, went in alone and slipped a back-hand under Hogan. The Chiefs tied things early in the third, then the MoJacks put two behind Hogan inside a two minute span midway through the frame. Metheral clicked with a wrist shot to the stick side at 7:41 and Brent Pinch made it 5-3 at 9:08 as he converted a perfectly timed goal-mouth pass from Derek Tindal off a two-on-one break. On Friday night in Uxbridge, the MoJacks could not get any- thing going their way as they spotted the Bruins a 2-0 lead before Keith Blohm deflected a Forbes slap shot from the point. The Bruins added goals in the second and third, while the ModJacks could get just one more, from Pinch midway through the middle stanza. Netminder Mackie was called on to stop a penalty shot by Chris Bell who was hauled down while breaking in on the net. Coach Thornbury was at a loss to explain his team's perfor- mance, saying there was "no feeling to want to win, something we can't teach at this time in the season." SLAPSHOTS: Can the ModJacks pull off another miracle similar to last season when they won back-to-back games the final weekend of the schedule to edge out the Georgina Ice by a few percentage points for the fourth and final playoff spot? Well, anything is possible, of course. But it's a tall mountain they have to climb especially without Clarke, Forbes and Patrick. Harman leads his squad to victory with two goals From Page 18 providing his team with many big saves. Jarrett Harman was the domi- nant offensive player in this contest as he' had two nice goals. His first came after he put a low wrist shot in the bottom corner ~ Sports scores?
